Minecraft mods are basically pieces of community-created content that add new items, upgrades, variations, expansions, and other modifications (hence the name) to the game. And while those two factors definitely play a role, it must be said that the existence of Minecraft mods heavily contributes to its undying success. Some may attribute its longevity and replay value to its open-world setting and simple design. Minecraft is a fairly magical sandbox game that, to this day, has yet to run out of popularity.
